Meet "Summer" (Adopted!)

This sweet, but extremely shy girl came to us in late July with almost no background information -- terrified of just about everything, possibly from a puppy mill, she would squeeze herself into the farthest corner she could find and curl up into a tiny ball...she had no interest in our other dogs, wouldn't eat for the first few days, and would cower at the slightest movement towards her...a very sad story.  After a month of working on getting Summer to trust 'anyone', she is finally coming around a bit, but will need a gentle, loving home and a new owner who is willing to put in the time and patience continuing the slow process of rehabilitation she will need.  If you feel you have the experience, time and patience to work with Summer, please get in touch...

UPDATE 9/05/2019 -- "Summer" is making good progress!!!  She is continuing to improve day by day -- now goes out for exercise and potty biz on command, and seems to have made friends with the other girls here.  She has been spayed, is UTD on all her vaccines, with a clean bill of health from our vet.  Adoption donation requested in the amount of $400.00 to cover vet costs.  To make appointment to meet Summer, give me a call at 775-265-5003...

UPDATE 9/27/2019 -- "Summer" has been adopted!!!  She'll be living the life of a 'beach bunny' in sunny Southern California with her new mom...and two kitties!

Thank you to all who expressed an interest in this girl...we appreciate your support of our rescue program...

GREAT NEWS!!!!  "Boo" has been adopted...here is his story:

This sweet, senior boy was looking for a forever home.  "Boo" came to us from the Washoe County Animal Services in Reno.  He was found wandering in a field, matted and full of stickers.

We decided to call him "Boo" because when found he was wearing a Halloween designed collar.  He languished in the shelter for a week, waiting for his owner to claim him.  Sadly, no one came so Sheltie Rescue was contacted.

"Boo" was vet checked, and got a much needed dental -- he lost over 20 teeth because his mouth was in such bad shape!!!  Though his hearing was virtually gone, he learned to respond to simple hand signals.  He was house trained, and was prompt about going out and doing his business.  He absolutely loved short walks, and enjoyed ear and tummy rubs.

"Boo" found a great new home where he will have a bed by a warm fire to live out his days...Northern Nevada Sheltie Rescue will always be there to help other Shelties in need...but we can always use help, too.  Can you help us with a small donation?  If so, please contact us via email at walkdusty@aol.com.   We thank you and the Shelties thank you too!
